The Lisbon club Sporting has decided to name a gate after Ronaldo

Following a vote by the club’s membership, Sporting Lisbon has decided to rename Jose Alvalade Stadium’s Gate 7 in honor of Cristiano Ronaldo. The majority of the club’s board of directors (71%) approved this motion. Former Sporting Lisbon great Manuel Fernandes has been honored by having gate 7 of Jose Alvalade Stadium renamed in his honor.

Since Ronaldo was raised in the Sporting Lisbon youth system and played for the club for 31 games and scored 5 goals before signing with Manchester United, this is one of the club’s highest distinctions. But CR7 is by far the best player Sporting Lisbon has ever developed.

The team’s management remained committed to bringing this player back to his “old home” even as 2022 came to a close. In addition, Ronaldo’s mom, Maria Dolores Aveiro, has repeatedly stated in public that she wants her son to return to Sporting Lisbon.

However, Ronaldo eventually joined Al Nassr of the Saudi Pro League and is currently enjoying a productive career there.

The Portuguese superstar has recently stated his intention to retire at Al Nassr rather than continue his career elsewhere.

Cristiano Ronaldo has chosen the date he will retire from his career

Cristiano Ronaldo reportedly left Manchester United for Al Nasr in January 2023. In 30 official matches while wearing the Al Nassr jersey, Portuguese striker Ronaldo scored 25 goals.

The 38-year-old striker has scored 10 goals in 8 games this season, making him the league’s leading scorer in the Saudi Arabia National Championship (Saudi Pro League). Ronaldo’s consistent play for the Portuguese national team under coach Roberto Martanez is a testament to the forward’s enduring brilliance. For those keeping track, Portugal’s next two EURO 2024 qualification games are against Slovakia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.Cristiano Ronaldo informed the board of directors at Al Nassr of his intention to retire from professional soccer before joining the Portuguese national team. CR7 reportedly wants to extend his contract until early 2027, the year he will surely retire from football, according to Saudi journalist Ali Al Harbi. The 2026 World Cup will be staged in Mexico, the United States, and Canada, and the Portuguese star want to play in it. “Ronaldo wants to play in the 2026 World Cup while still a player of Al Nassr Club and then he will announce his retirement from football,” said Al Harbi.

Following the completion of CR7’s plan, he will retire from soccer at the age of 42. Only Messi’s ability to take on Ronaldo at the 2026 World Cup remаins a question.
