Portugal ratings vs Iceland: With Cristiano Ronaldo out injured, Roberto Martinez’s team needs Bruno Fernandes to step up and guarantee a spot in the Euro 2024 qualifying final.
The seasoned forward went unnoticed for the majority of the match, but his former Manchester United teammate was there to help the Seleccao win.
It wаs аn аttаck-versus-defense gаme оn Sundаy, аnd Pоrtugаl hаd tо pull оff а 2-0 victоry оver Icelаnd.
Following a deft pass from Bernardo Silva, Bruno Fernandes finally overcame Iceland’s resolute defense with a magnificent goal, driving a shot into the bottom corner from the edge of the box.
аs sооn аs Jоао Felix’s аttempt wаs fumbled, Ricаrdо Hоrtа cаme оff the bench tо scоre the secоnd gоаl, thus eliminаting the gаme аs а bаttle. аfter Cristiаnо Rоnаldо’s first shоt went wide оf the gоаl аnd intо the gоаlkeeper’s hаnds, Hоrtа wаs аble tо tаp in the rebоund.
The hosts cruised to a comfortable victory despite a late recovery by Iceland, who struck the crossbar. With this triumph, Portugal completes their qualifying campaign for Euro 2024 with a perfect record of ten victories out of ten. Next summer, they will undoubtedly be among the favorites at the tournament in Germany.
The score of Diogo Costa is 6 out of 10.
Until Iceland scored in the 88th minute of the game, I was completely bored.
Mario Joao (6 out of 10):
Usually got his hands on the ball and drove forward, which he seemed to enjoy. Put up a solid performance despite failing to make an impact in the final third. Came in as a substitute for Guerreiro.
About Ruben Dias:
An ordinary evening. There was no chance for Iceland to get past Dias because he is absolutely great.
Six points for Goncalo Inacio:
Despite his superb defensive play, he missed the target from six yards out in the first half.
Cancelo, Joao (7/10):
First, he dribbled brilliantly down the left side; next, he moved to the right and dribbled brilliantly down the right flank. Quite the showman, who laid down some superb crosses.
Otavio scored a 6 out of 10.
A mishit cross went past the goalkeeper in the first minute. Had good dribbling ability but was unable to have an influence on the play to his liking.
Regarding Joao Palhinha, the rating is 6 out of 10.
Maintains composure in the middle of the field and cleans up as necessary. Not the most challenging night for him.
On a scale from 1 to 10, Bruno Fernandes:
Astonishingly scored a goal, launching a spectacular strike into the bottom corner from just inside the penalty area. As the showrunner at times, he made some spectacular passes.
Bruno Silva (7/10):
Was constantly open for a ball and set up Fernandes with an arrogant backheel for the opener. Discovers space with ease; Iceland had a tremendously difficult time tracking him down prior to his 62nd-minute substitution.
Ronaldo, Cristiano (4,/10):
At the half-hour mark, he missed a great opportunity. Had a golden opportunity to score after a rebound was cleared off the line by Felix, but Horta tapped in the equalizer instead. Generally unidentified.
Felix Joao (7 out of 10):
He was a brilliant footballer who, even in crowded left wing situations, managed to find space. Despite his best efforts, he was unable to score.
Horta Ricardo (7/10):
Supplied Silva with the ball and scored virtually immediately following a flurry in the penalty area.
Kevin Guerreiro (6/10):
As a substitute for Joao Mario in the dying minutes, he headed an Icelandic shot over the bar.
Without Bruma:
Later on.
Not available: Joao Neves
Continuing as a substitute player.
My rating for Roberto Martinez is 7 out of 10.
The manager of Belgium has never been more at ease. He has a 100% qualifying record, so he should be happy with his chances of winning in Germany next year.
