In a tense 3-3 draw at Galatasaray on Wednesday night, Manchester United twice let a two-goal lead escape thanks to two crucial errors by Andre Onana

Due to the outcome, United’s chances of making it to the round of 16 in the Champions League are now extremely slim. The Red Devils must defeat Bayern Munich in their last Group A game on December 12 and require a draw from Galatasaray and Copenhagen.

Erik ten Hag’s team took the lead through an early goal from Alejandro Garnacho, but Bruno Fernandes’ thunderbolt from 25 to 30 yards out stunneԀ the home fans.

In the second half, Scott McTominay scored his first-ever Champions League goal to put United back in control after Onana made a mistake. Former Chelsea player Hakim Ziyech scored a free kιck from 20 to 25 yards to give the Turkish team a response.

However, Galatasaray did not give up, and with less than 20 minutes of normal time left, Kerem Akturkoglu leveled the score after another Onana error saw Ziyech score his second goal of the game.

After being set up by Fernandes, Garnacho, who had recently scored a legendary bicycle kιck against Everton, completed an amazing attacking play with a superb finish, shooting into the top of the net to give United the lead after just 11 minutes.

After that, Onana had to make a spectacular save to stop Dries Mertens’ header from a corner, and Harry Maguire stopped Abdulkerim Bardakci’s goal-bound attempt. Finally, VAR looked into a probable penalty due to a handball by McTominay, but no spot kιck was awarded.

Following his assist, Fernandes scored a fantastic goal to give United a 2-0 lead. His attempt, which swerved and dipped before reaching the top corner, was unstoppable from 25 to 30 yards away, giving Fernando Muslera little chance to save it.

The passionate home crowd was quieted by that, but they erupted again at the halfway point when Ziyech scored a free kιck from 20 to 25 yards out that went through United’s wall. Onana should have done better after he gambled by taking a step to his left, which prevented him from recovering.

Before halftime, the Turkish team made an effort to tie the score and had Mauro Icardi score past Onana after 43 minutes, but United maintained their lead at the interval after Icardi was narrowly flagged offside.

After a cross from the right side, Kaan Ayhan found himself open at the front post as Galatasaray continued to apply pressure. However, he was only able to blast his effort into the side netting.

Following a brilliant cоunterattack that put the Red Devils back in control, McTominay delivered a fantastic goal at the front post after being set up by Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s low cross. The hosts were forced to pay for their squandered opportunities.

After an hour, Onana made another crucial mistake that helped Galatasaray retake the lead. The United goalkeeper was flapping at a free-kιck from Ziyech when the ball went under his arm and across the line.

Once again, United lost a two-goal lead in the game, but Galatasaray responded on 71 minutes when substitute Akturkoglu produced a flawless first touch under pressure and rocketed his shot past Onana to make it 3-3.

Both teams had several good opportunities as they attempted to win the game. McTominay’s low-driven effort went wide of the goal, Facundo Pellistri missed the mark, Wilfried Zaha created space and fired directly at Onana, and with five minutes remaining, Fernandes struck the post.

With two minutes left, Anthony Martial squandered a crucial opportunity, and Muslera made a fantastic save to deny Pellistri, resulting in an incredible 3-3 tie between the two teams.
