Bruno Fernandes is unflinching in his criticism of Manchester United’s Champions League loss to Galatasaray

After Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United side blew another two-goal lead in the Champions League, Bruno Fernandes challenged his injured teammates to “step up and take responsibility of their own mistakes.”

United jumped out to an early 2-0 lead thanks to a goal and an assist from Fernandes.

Goalkeeper Andre Onana committed two errors on free-kicks from Hakim Ziyech, causing United’s Champions League ambitions to dwindle to a sliver after a 3-3 draw.

It is quite challenging. We let in goals that were absolutely poor. “We have to take control of the situations in all of them,” Fernandes told TNT Sports, his frustration evident.

Twice we had the lead and had too many opportunities to seal the deal. It was because we lacked clinical rigor.

Fernandes was at a loss for words when asked why they let another two-goal lead slip away on a game they really needed to win.

“Being honest is really challenging; I don’t want to come across as negаtive,” he continued.

However, our performance in the Champions League thus far has been insufficient. Having a game like this before is not unprecedented. We must ensure the outcome.

In these kinds of games and stages, we need to be wise and have stronger game management skills.

I think it’s time for everyone to own up to their faults and do what’s right. It is what it is, and we can no longer rely on ourselves.

United will host Bayern Munich, who won their group, in Matchday Six, but with the draw, their fate is no longer in their own hands.

However, Manchester United had a disappointing night, especially because two of the three goals were scored as a result of errors.

Onana stepped to his left as the free-kιck went in to the goalkeeper’s side due to his miscalculation of the trajectory, which led to Galatasaray’s opening goal.

Second, Onana’s careless tap-in from close range made it even worse; both goals came from Ziyech’s free kicks.

The equalizer by Akturkoglu was a spectacular goal, but United’s left-wing defense was severely lacking.

This entire episode brought up the embarrassing losses in Copenhagen and their home loss to Galatasaray.

Unfortunately, Fernandes had exhausted all possible explanations for his mistake.

“I am clueless,” he stated.

After giving up those two goals, we’re pretty much out of options. We could have done a better job with those two objectives, but we made do.

Every time we let one in, there were plenty of opportunities for us to score again. We ended up with four opportunities.

We need to keep our chins up and work to place our top players in advantageous positions so that we don’t have to take chances.

We must prioritize the team’s needs. We were careless with the goals we let in.
