Manchester United cult legend Lee Sharpe thinks Kobbie Mainoo is already better than Casemiro

Despite just making five appearances for Manchester United’s first team, the 18-year-old is receiving praise from fans.

His superbly confident performance in his first competitive start for the club—a 3-0 Premier League victory over Everton last weekend—earned him a spot in Wednesday night’s Champions League match against Galatasaray.

Among Erik ten Hag’s many issues has been the midfield, and according to Sharpe, Mainoo—who is already better than Casemiro and Amrabat, two of his much more seasoned teammates—could be the solution.

“He seems to fit right in with the team,” Sharpe told 888Sport. “He just slots in and doesn’t pаnic in situations.” Last night, he kept the ball and showed some good touches, even though there were a few of guys around him.

Despite only having played for the first team for two minutes, he appears calm and in control at all times. My hopes are on the management and club to keep him safe and give him playing time when he needs it most; I have great expectations for him.

It speaks a lot about Sofyan Amrabat’s ability when a young player is sent on to replace him [against Galatasaray]. Also, Casemiro is currently benched, and I believe Mainoo is better than both of them and can keep them off the team.

Another kid at the club with great potential is Alejandro Garnacho, according to Sharpe, who won three Premier League championships with Manchester United.

While Mainoo was outstanding in the victory over Everton, Sharpe was captivated by Garnacho’s spectacular overhead kιck.

The goal and Garnacho’s recent performances bode well for the future. With hindsight, I believe we have all seen his abilities and potential,’ remarked the 52-year-old England star.

A lot of people think the goal against Everton was the best of the season because it was so unbelievable. There were some concerns about his mindset and attitude, but he has several seasoned teammates who can help him work on those issues and lead him in the correct direction. His talent is undeniable.

You pay to watch him play because he is a very talented player. Hopefully, he can keep up his current level of play because he is more of an old-school winger who takes on defenders, is direct, and can score goals.

“I believe he will be a marvel for Manchester United for the next ten or fifteen years.”
