Harry Maguire defends Man Utd player who is under fire: ‘He’s working hard’

Rashford, an Englishman, was terrible for Manchester United in their Saturday loss to Newcastle. He was careless with the ball and one of the worst players on the field.

United great Paul Scholes blasted Rashford following his performance at St. James’ Park, and Erik ten Hag is planning a one-on-one chat with the player to discuss his form.

“Marcus had an unbelievable season last season,” Maguire said in an interview with TNT Sports, defending Rashford.Nothing has worked for him this season. His effort is diligent. No one in that dressing room is in the dark about him.

As Eddie Howe’s team jumped ahead of United in the Premier League standings, Maguire felt that United “didn’t have enough” and “didn’t create enough” throughout the match.

With three away games in the span of six days, it has been a challenging week. Maguire chimed in. It was almost as if we were playing our third away game in as many days throughout the first half.Neither the pace nor the intensity were present. We were much inferior to them. We got better at the game, but it still wasn’t enough.

“We insisted that they move.” One of our goals was disallowed, but we could have had more. Our dаnger level was too low, and we failed to generate enough in-game.

When asked about United’s terrible record versus the top six, Maguire responded, “It’s not a nice stat to have.” We were well-aware that this was our golden opportunity to shine. We are aware of the pressure they play with. We will strive to secure the three points next week (against Chelsea) because we fell short.
