The significant progress Manchester United made in the Premier League last month has not gone unnoticed.
Harry Maguire has been selected November’s Player of the Month, and Erik ten Hag has been named Manager of the Month.
“I couldn’t have done it without my teammates, the staff, and you fans,” Maguire stated. I am grateful for your love and support; it is really appreciated.”
After taking home the Manager of the Month titles in September 2022 and February 2023, Ten Hag has now been in charge of the team for three separate times.
Erik ten Hag says he was told not to take ‘impossible’ Manchester United job
Despite the fact that the Dutchman’s second season at Old Trafford is not going as planned, his most recent remarks imply he won’t be leaving anytime soon. After experiencing great success at Ajax, Ten Hag joined United in the summer of 2022. He had a great debut season, finishing third in the Premier League and winning the team’s first trophy in six years.
This time around, though, things are more difficult because the Red Devils’ humbling Champions League elimination is imminent following a string of collapses, and their Carabao Cup defense was halted at the first attempt.
Things aren’t much better in the Premier League, though Ten Hag’s victory over Chelsea at Old Trafford last time out provided a little solace after a meaningless away loss to Newcastle.
Ten Hag, who was long associated with Barcelona and for whom many of his players were targets, came to England after he had twice built Ajax teams that were competitive in the Champions League. The 53-year-old claims he understood exactly what he was getting into, despite the possibility that this season’s firing might destrоy his reputation.
“You can’t succeed in that job,” they all told me, calling it impossible, in an interview with United We Stand. Me? I was up for the challenge.
“I knew it wouldn’t be simple, but the club and its supporters were so amazing.
“People either support Manchester United or they oppose it. These kinds of clubs are my thing. This was how Ajax was.But it looks like the manager, who is under a lot of strain, won’t get any support in January to assist him reduce his workload and bolster his team.
Soon, there will be news of Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s acquisition of a 25% share in the Premier League’s biggest teams.Ten Hag does not anticipate doing much business, though, and it is unlikely that the billionaire’s presence will have an impact in time for the January transfer window.
“I don’t think [we will spend a lot],” he stated.
“As a club, you have to search for ways to improve, so if you can discover something better, as long as it’s financially feasible and compliant with FFP, the club needs to take it.
“But most of the time you don’t attract the best players in the winter.”
