Sergio Reguilon’s contract contains a “break clause,” according to Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag, which might allow him to return to Tottenham in January.
After Ten Hag’s favorite left backs, Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia, were sidelined with injuries, the Spanish defender was loaned to Manchester United in September. Reguilon has made 10 club appearances despite struggling with his own health.
The future of Reguilon at Old Trafford is unclear, though, due to Shaw’s return to action and Malacia’s progress toward full fitness. According to the Mirror, Ten Hag acknowledged that the future of the former Real Madrid star was uncertain prior to their most recent loss to Bournemouth.
“We need to make a final decision on Reguilon,” he informed the press. However, the Spurs are also a part of that discussion. Reguilon broke into Real’s first squad in 2018, however he only played in 14 La Liga games before being sent on loan to Sevilla for the following season.
After winning the Europa League trophy there, he moved to north London in September 2020 to join Jose Mourinho’s squad. But he was loaned out to Atletico Madrid again two years later. He made a triumphant return in the summer, only to be abruptly removed from his contract with United. In January, Ten Hag is considering a number of possible departures. In addition to Donny van de Beek and Rafael Varane, Jadon Sancho is expected to leave the club after being benched from the first team.
Gary Neville gives verdict on calls to sack Erik ten Hag
While many commentators have pointed fingers at the Dutchman for United’s recent struggles, I fail to see any of them proposing any practical solutions. The club needs to shed that mentality because it would lead to nothing more than a cycle of repetition.
Even with the new funding from Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS, fans will still protest against the Glazer ownership, as they have done for a long time.
Instead of the Reds, Gary Neville thinks the Glazer family should take the heat for the team’s current predicament.United fans were ecstatic following three days of a 2-1 victory over Chelsea, and they were much more so before Bournemouth’s 3-0 home loss. The positive energy quickly faded as Bournemouth won a historic match at the Theatre of Dreams with to goals from Dominic Solanke, Philp Billing, and Marcos Senesi.
Despite being named Premier League Manager of the Month for the third time in November, that poor outcome led detractors to claim that Ten Hag is running out of steam.
Although Neville has acknowledged the need for better results and performances, he is sure that a manager change will not resolve the issue.
According to Manchester Evening News, the Sky Sports commentator said, “This idea of sacking him is absolute nonsense and I would not be in favor of that.” He went on to sаy that they should not change him this season.
Some may аrgue that the Glazers are not to responsible for the current situation on the field, but I disagree. Yes, you can, because the lack of a sporting director or competent head of recruitment is the root reason of their ten years of unsuccessful and awful recruiting.
So that’s the reason for it. When managers see no one to answer to except themselves, they may decide to take matters into their own hands. It is the leadership’s fault for this.
“Okay, it’s one thing if it happens once; if it happens again, you could wonder why, but this has happened five times in a decade. They are £1.2 billiоn short after spending a billiоn pounds on FFP, £700 million in debt, £300 million to other clubs, and a bank overdraft of £250 to 300 million.
My biggest worry is that Jim Ratcliffe won’t be able to come in and fix this; you have to wonder how he’ll accomplish it. It is imperative that there be a change in leadership over the next few weeks so that the sporting project may be reevaluated; after all, one cannot simply step in and leave things the way it is.Then perhaps Manchester United can compete with clubs that are more organized and effective recruiters if they had stronger leadership.
