Due to a team list error, Chelsea has “signed” young players from Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United.
Lewis Miley, a midfielder for Newcastle United, was included in Chelsea’s squad for their Premier League match against Everton.
Lewis Miley, a midfielder for Newcastle United, was included in Chelsea’s starting lineup for their Sunday afternoon Premier League match at Goodison Park due to an error by Everton.
The young Magpies player started the team’s 3-0 loss against Everton on Thursday night and continued to start for the team’s 4-1 loss to Tottenham Hotspur the following day.
However, there were hints from Merseyside that Miley, 17, was playing for the wrong team as he got ready to face Spurs!
Miley was mistakenly identified as a member of the Chelsea squad due to an error in the Everton program. Jude Soonsup-Bell, a former forward for the Blues who joined Tottenham in January, was also included.
The caption for a photo of the program that Daily Mail writer Lewis Steele shared said, “Either a programme error or Chelsea have signed Lewis Miley from Newcastle (No 67).”
Abdoulaye Doucoure and Lewis Dobbin’s goals in the second half handed Chelsea a 2-0 loss at Goodison Park.
Miley, meanwhile, played the full ninety minutes as he and his teammates lost badly thanks to goals from Destiny Udogie and Heung-Min Son in addition to a brace from Richardson.
Eddie Howe’s team now sits seventh in the Premier League standings following the loss. The Champions League matchup between United and AC Milan is scheduled for this Wednesday. In order to advance to the knockout stages, United needs to outperform Paris Saint-Germain’s performance against Borussia Dortmund.
