Good news: Lisandro Martinez intensifies his recuperation before making a comeback

This season, the 25-year-old has only made six appearances for the Red Devils; his most recent game for the team was in mid-September against Brighton & Hove Albion.

Martinez first had surgery in April to repair the fractured metatarsal he sustained against Sevilla in the Europa League.

The center-back made a comeback for the start of preseason training, but a scan revealed that the first procedure did not completely resolve the issue, thus in early October it was determined that he would require more surgery.

Martinez, who established himself as one of Man United’s most vital players last season, will not be available for selection before Christmas, according to Red Devils head coach Erik ten Hag.

The South American was photographed during Man United’s first practice on Monday. The defender started out with his teammates before working on his own.

In an effort to properly recuperate from the hamstring ιnjury he sustained against Newcastle United at the beginning of November, Casemiro has also resumed training.

For Tuesday’s Champions League match against Bayern Munich, Tyrell Malacia, Christian Eriksen, Mason Mount, and Amad Diallo will all be out of the game as well.

Due to the issue that kept him out of Saturday afternoon’s 3-0 Premier League loss at home against Bournemouth, Victor Lindelof is still doubtful.

During his Monday press conference, Ten Hag stated, “I’m not sure about everyone, who’s available for tomorrow. It’s a condensed program so we have a training [session] later.”

“But whether Victor Lindelof can make it or not is a question mark. We will have to wait until tomorrow to find out.”

Due to illness, Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford are also questionable. Neither player was able to practice on Monday.

To advance to the Champions League round of 16, Man United must defeat Bayern and hope that Copenhagen and Galatasaray draw in the other match in the section.

But a victory over the dominant team in the Bundesliga would ensure that the Red Devils finish in at least third place and advance to the Europa League knockout stage.
