After fracturing his shoulder in October’s Scotland qualifier against Spain for Euro 2024, the left defender has been out of action since.
On the return to club activity, he was unable to participate in the Merseyside derby or any of the eleven subsequent matches. He was also absent from Scotland’s two November internationals, in which they celebrated qualifying for the finals next summer.
The Daily Mail states that Robertson is due to return next month, although he is still slated for a few more weeks out.
He will still miss crucial league matches against Manchester United, Arsenal, and Newcastle United, as well as their EFL Cup quarterfinal against West Ham United, even if a comeback before the end of 2023 always appeared ambitious.
The article claims that Robertson is back on the grass, developing fitness after a significant layoff, but he has not yet returned to contact training to protect his shoulder.
Also, the Scot is taking part in strength training to restore his shoulder to full health so that he can be risked in full training and, eventually, the first team.
Robertson, who is Liverpool’s first choice left defender, had only missed 17 league games over the previous five seasons (mostly owing to other injuries) before this setback.
After joining Liverpool from Hull City in 2017, the 29-year-old has been absolutely sensational, winning every major award and amassing an incredible amount of assists during his time under Jurgen Klopp.
Robertson has assisted on 53 goals for Liverpool in the Premier League and seven more in the Champions League, working in tandem with Trent Alexander-Arnold on the other side.

After Thursday’s trip to Union Saint-Gilloise, the two will likely continue to rotate starting roles for the next six matches. With Liverpool already through as Europa League group winners, Klopp is set to make numerous changes.
