Mohamed Salah can add another player of the month award to his collection from Liverpool in November. With Saturday’s victory over Crystal Palace, the club finally reached their goal of becoming league leaders, which they started last month.
They played seven games in all competitions, losing just one meaningless match against Toulouse in the Europa League. They were the group winners in the Europa League and advanced to the quarterfinals of the Carabao Cup. Their league performances weren’t spectacular, but they were sufficient to help the Reds win.
The team’s success was greatly influenced by Salah. He was a part of six of the seven contests. He added three goals and an assist to his game.
With 11 goals in the league so far this season, he is in second position, only behind Erling Haaland of Manchester City with 14. Based on his current performance, it seems like Salah will have another season with 20 or more league goals.
However, Salah selected his assist to Trent Alexander-Arnold in the Manchester City encounter as his favorite moment of the month when asked.
To be honest, I’d have to go with the City one; we were down 1-0 at halftime, but we scored to tie the game. “Goalscoring is great, but that month Trent could have that assist,” he added.
Neither does he appear to be slowing down. In Liverpool’s come-from-behind win over Crystal Palace in December, he scored his 200th goal.
Now that his future is up in the air, Liverpool fans would do well to pause and remember what an incredible contribution Salah has made to the team since he stepped on the field.
