After only 257 minutes on loan at RB Leipzig, Liverpool are ready to bring midfielder Fabio Carvalho back from his loan.
Carvalho reportedly requested a transfer to Leipzig from Liverpool in the summer, and the Reds leased him out. However, he has not been able to break into the starting lineup for Leipzig. The 21-year-old has started just once in the Bundesliga and played just 257 minutes overall.
Although he has played for England at different junior levels, Carvalho is a Portugal Under-21 international. He has intimated that a fallout with manager Jurgen Klopp was the cause for his loan move. The future оf his quest fоr first-team fооtball is uncertain; he may return tо Liverpооl and play there, оr he may be lоaned оut again. As January draws near, the secоnd pоssibility becоmes mоre prоbable, given Liverpооl’s abundance оf оffensive assets.
Liverpool ‘open contract talks with French defender Ibrahima Konate’
Konate was a product of the French youth system and played 13 games for Sochaux before being enticed by RB Leipzig in 2014.
The 24-year-old Konate became one of the best center backs in the Bundesliga during his four years with the German club, which he joined on a free transfer.
Reports in France indicate that agents for the French international have begun contract extension negotiations with Liverpool officials, as reported by Le10 Sport.
The new conditions are intended to keep Konate with the club beyond his current contract expiration date in 2026, and the article adds that his earnings will be increased from the existing £70,000 per week.
If the 24-year-old rejects a contract extension from his present club, Paris Saint-Germain, who have reportedly been admirers of him for a while, could make a bid to sign him.
Now an integral part of Jurgen Klopp’s squad, the central defender has played in 15 games in all competitions this season, bringing his total appearances for the Reds to 68.
In 2021, Konate transferred from RB Leipzig to Liverpool for a roughly £36 million transfer fee.
