Barcelona-related With a goal and an assist, Man Utd loanee Mason Greenwood stҽals the show as Getafe defeats Sevilla 3-0

Mason Greenwood, a Manchester United loanee, scored and assisted Getafe’s 3-0 La Liga victory over Sevilla on Saturday.

Greenwood was instrumental in the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium triumph for Getafe. After five minutes, Borja Mayoral scored the first goal from the penalty spot, then Greenwood set up Jaime Mata for the second goal to make it 2-0. The United loanee saw Mata’s run down the left wing and precisely timed a low pass to set him up for a goal. With ten minutes left in regulation time, Greenwood scored his second La Liga goal of the year, sweeping home from the penalty spot to complete the victory.

Since joining Getafe from Manchester United, Greenwood has scored twice and provided three assists in his last six La Liga games. As a result, he is becoming more and more of an asset to Jose Bordalas’ team. Getafe president Angel Torres has confirmed that the team would like to sign their loanee permanently, indicating that they are delighted with him. Giants of La Liga Barcelona have also been linked to a surprise move for Greenwood; Real Sociedad and Valencia are rumored to be considering the forward as well.

While playing for United as a youth, Greenwood missed with his left foot against Manchester City and now takes penalties with his “weaker” right foot.Greenwood’s long-term future is still out in the air because United isn’t anticipated to decide on the forward until the following spring. Greenwood will go on with Getafe in the interim. Tuesday is Bordalas’ team’s La Liga return matchup versus Atletico Madrid. After that, the league will take a Christmas break. On January 2, Getafe will play their first match of 2024 against Rayo Vallecano.
