Milner wins again! The long-serving Liverpool legend was presented with an MBE at Windsor Castle in recognition of his many charitable and sporting contributions

For his contributions to both sport and philanthropy, James Milner, a veteran for Liverpool, has been appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE).

Prince William bestowed the honor upon Milner during Tuesday’s investiture ceremony, and the two of them then had a laugh.

The midfielder has been a mainstay in English football for the past 20 years, winning the Premier League with Manchester City and Liverpool among his many domestic club titles.

Following Jurgen Klopp’s 2018–19 squad’s victory against Tottenham in the Madrid final, Milner augmented his trophy case with a Champions League medal.

After that, he won the FIFA Club World Cup and the UEFA Suρer Cup the next year.

Due to his adaptability, Milner has played in a wide variety of football positions, including left back and central midfield, two of the most physically demanding positions on the game.

Milner has proven he can continue to compete at a high level despite turning 37 last month; many of his contemporaries look up to him as an example of professionalism and physical endurance.

At the special investiture ceremony on Tuesday, Milner will not be the only footballer to receive honors.

Mike Summerbee was awarded the OBE for his contributions to sport and charitable work. He was a famous player for Manchester City in the 1960s and 1970s.

City won the First Division in 1967–68 with the help of the 80-year-old, who made 357 league appearances for the club. They went on to win the FA Cup, League Cup, Cup Winners’ Cup, and Charity Shield in the years that followed.

Summerbee is still a huge fan of City and makes an effort to attend each and every home and away game as an ambassador for the team.

A month ago, he gave Sportsmail an exclusive interview in which he discussed his devotion to the Etihad uniform.
