Real Madrid’s rising Brazilian star Endrick has admitted that he was attracted by the prospect of joining Chelsea.
Real Madrid signed Endrick from Palmeiras in a €60m (£51.9m) deal (The Guardian), with the striker set to officially link up with the Spanish club next year when he turns 18.
However, Endrick recently revealed to The Athletic that Chelsea were also keen on his signature and that he did have some interest in joining them.
The Blues have really tapped into the Brazilian market lately, bringing in the likes of Angelo and Deivid Washington, but Endrick is the one who got away.
Endrick was interested in joining Chelsea
It looks like Endrick was very much open to joining Chelsea, though he admitted that Real Madrid have always been his dream.
“At one point, there was a lot of talk about Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe for Madrid and that was when there was strong interest from Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain,” he said.
“Of course, they are big and important teams. I am very interested in them and they would be excellent options. I was attracted by the Premier League, the city of London and the fact that English is the economically dominant language in the world. And obviously Chelsea is a strong brand that has won two Champions Leagues.
“I was told that it rains a lot in London, but that wouldn’t be a problem because, as my father used to say, I always liked playing in the rain. But I always made it clear to my agent that my dream was Real Madrid.”
Chelsea not landing Endrick disappointing
Chelsea have bought too many youngsters. They now have a very inexperienced squad, while plenty of them are out on loan, not even contributing to the club at the minute.
However, if there was one young player that they had to sign, then it was probably Endrick given all of his talent and potential.
He ended up at Real Madrid, though, and the Spanish giants will now be hoping that they have stumbled across another Vinicius Junior.
Chelsea must now move on and really focus on bringing in more experienced footballers in the next couple of transfer windows.
It could really help Mauricio Pochettino‘s young squad, which has struggled in the Premier League this season.
