Chelsea fans joke Raheem Sterling has ruined Christmas as he misses glorious three-on-one chance

Sterling missed unbelievably in a 3v1 ball

Raheem Sterling just had an unbelievable miss in the match against Wolves in round 18 of the Premier League.

In the match between Wolves and Chelsea taking place on the evening of December 24, Raheem Sterling missed in the 32nd minute. He took the ball from the Wolves player’s foot and escaped with two teammates. When there was only goalkeeper Jose Sa in front of him and the goal was empty, Sterling decided not to pass to his teammates in a more favorable position but instead finished himself.

As a result, he could not defeat goalkeeper Sa, letting the opportunity go to waste. According to statistics, if Sterling passes to Cole Palmer, the expected goals ratio (xG) for this ball can increase from 0.68 to 0.95.

On social networks, Chelsea fans were very dissatisfied with Sterling’s handling. They left comments:

“Oh my God, he gets £325,000 a week!”.

“A selfish person. Why not pass?”.

“It’s Chelsea and their problems again. Should have led 3-0”.

“That’s why Chelsea lost so many points”.

This is not the first time Sterling has missed such delicious opportunities. Previously, when he played for Man City, he was also famous many times for wasting opportunities, notably when he kicked out in front of an empty goal in the match against Lyon in the quarterfinals of the Champions league 2020.

This season, Chelsea is having difficulty in the Premier League. They are ranked 10th in the rankings and have lost 7 matches. Scoring goals is a big problem for the Blues as they repeatedly lose points because they cannot take advantage of the opportunities they create. That made Sterling’s miss even worse, because the club was already struggling with away matches this season.
