Chelsea is currently ranked in the middle of the Premier League rankings. Despite spending a lot of money to upgrade the squad in the 2023 Summer market, coach Pochettino is still not satisfied. The Argentine teacher is still hoping to have more good contracts in January 2024. 

According to A Bola, Ousmane Diomande is Chelsea’s latest target. The 20-year-old currently plays for Sporting Lisbon of Portugal. Thiago Silva is likely to leave at the end of the season, so Chelsea targets Diomande as the ideal replacement.

Chelsea put Ousmane Diomande in their sights

Diomande only arrived at Sporting Lisbon in January this year for a transfer fee of 7.5 million euros. His rapid growth has helped him receive interest from big teams. According to A Bola, Chelsea’s representative is contacting Sporting in hopes of obtaining the midfielder’s signature in January 2024.

Diomande’s goal is to reach the Premier League, a common dream of young African players. Chelsea agreed to spend 25 to 30 million euros for Diomande’s signature, to increase the likelihood of success of the deal they agreed to let this young midfielder play for the Portuguese team until the end of this season. 

In addition to Chelsea, Arsenal and Man City are also interested in the 20-year-old centre-back, so the Blues’ scouting team is speeding up negotiations in hopes of getting what they need.
