Man Utd completes Aaron Wan-Bissaka trade! Despite doubts about his future with the club, Red Devils activate one-year extension on defender’s contract.
Just like they did with Victor Lindelof, Manchester United have activated an option to extend Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s contract by one year.
United have reportedly activated the extension clause in the English defender’s contract, meaning he will remain at Old Trafford for an additional year, instead of his original expiration date in June 2024. This news comes from The Athletic. This occurs shortly after the club activated a comparable provision in Victor Lindelof’s contract.
The last six months of the contracts of four other Red Devils stars—Hannibal Mejbri, Anthony Martial, Tom Heaton, and Jonny Evans—are also approaching. The club allegedly chose not to prolong Martial’s stay, but they have not yet decided on the futures of Heaton, Evans, and Mejbri.
As soon as the transfer market opened in January, the Red Devils began selling players. They recalled Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund on a short-term loan, and they terminated the loan of left back Sergio Reguilon after just six months, sending him back to Tottenham. Donny van de Beek, meanwhile, is now a Frankfurt player on loan with a buyout clause.
After a disappointing second half of 2023, Erik ten Hag’s squad will kιck off 2024 with a road trip to face Wigan Athletic in the FA Cup third round on January 8.
Dortmund offer United £3m loan fee for Sancho
Dortmund wants Jadon Sancho at their training camp in Marbella next week so they can get the negotiations with United resolved quickly.
