Regretfully, Zendaya did not pull off a jaw-dropping appearance on the Golden Globes red carpet this evening because she declined to attend the 2024 ceremony. Still, it is hardly surprising that she is absent. This year, Zendaya is not nominated. The SAG-AFTRA strike caused her project Challengers, which was scheduled to release on August 11, 2023, to be rescheduled for April 26, 2024. Her most recent Globes attendance was in 2016.
Zendaya hinted on Instagram at the beginning of the new year that Challengers promotion would shortly begin. She gained notoriety after unfollowing everyone on her account, including Tom Holland, her boyfriend.
She penned, “Challengers April 26th,” on January 1. “Happy New Year’s Eve to all of you✨”
In her September interview with ELLE, Zendaya discussed her role as Challengers’ femme fatale character Tashi. Before the SAG-AFTRA strike and the postponement of Challengers’ release date, Zendaya stated in an interview that she felt it was a decent move into a more, you might say, “grown-up” character and into that next phase. “Taking on something a little daunting was nice, in my opinion. to think, “Oh, this is possible for me?” You have two options: either you run away from that emotion and remain secure.
Even after finishing the project, she said it was still difficult for her to understand Tashi’s reasons. We’ve talked a lot about why she is the way she is, but I still don’t understand the decisions she takes, she said. “Her lack of remorse was what impressed me the most. I’ll accept any opportunity to portray a character that is messy, complicated, and has authority over other people—characters that are sometimes reserved for [actors] who don’t look like me!
