Dominik Szoboszlai has been named Hungarian Sportsman of the Year

Mária Érdi, a world-champion sailor, was named the 2023 Athlete of the Year by the Hungarian Sports Journalists’ Association (MSÚSZ), while Dominik Szoboszlai, a football player for Liverpool and captain of the Hungarian national team, received the honor for women.

 

The winners of the 66th voting for the Athlete of the Year were announced during a banquet held on Monday night at the Opera House.

 

In line with the previous year, the men’s football team was recognized as the best in traditional team sports, while the men’s sword team claimed the top spot in the individual sports team category.

 

Marco Rossi, the captain of the national football team, received the highest number of votes among the coaches, repeating his victory from the previous year.

 

Pál Schmitt, a two-time Olympic champion in fencing, Athlete of the Nation, former president of the Republic, honorary president of the Hungarian Olympic Committee, and former member of the International Olympic Committee, was presented with the MSÚSZ Lifetime Achievement Award.
