This season, Antony has failed to contribute in any way for Manchester United, and Erik ten Hag seeks to shed light on why

The Brazilian, who joined Manchester United from Ajax for £85 million in the summer of 2022, has yet to find the back of the net in 21 games in all competitions

Ever since leaving Ajax, he has improved his production slightly, although he still only managed four goals and two assists in the Premier League. This means that he makes a crucial contribution once every 454 minutes, or almost every five matches.

Antony was granted a leave of absence in September following claims of domestic abuse; Ten Hag thinks that these off-field concerns are still affecting Antony significantly, but thinks that the discussion surrounding his on-field performances has been exaggerated.

Ten Hag said, “I can explain, it’s very simple,” when asked to elaborate on Antony’s Premier League tribulations. I believe he is unable to play because of his personal problems.

His first year was alright, and I thought preseason was great, so I don’t see why he has had trouble in the Premier League.

It was a great first four games. For example, I saw the game versus Spurs and he was outstanding. His performance was below par both when he was out and when he returned, and he clearly has a lot of room to improve.

If you bring up Ajax, I also checked that area. There, as well as in the Champions League, his efficacy and final product were exceptionally good.

His main actions, passes, crosses, and finishes should be enough to get the job done, I’m sure.Even if the Premier League is more challenging, he ought to revert to his high-quality output from his time at Ajax. He can pull it off.

Ten Hag responded, “It has had an effect,” when asked if Antony is still troubled by the off-field problems. He has undoubtedly been affected by it.

Since he is responsible for their occurrence, he must resolve problems. He has to step up his game, but we’ll be there to back him up.
