Barcelona star Lionel Messi will make his Suρer Bowl debut in a Michelob Ultra commercial.

The most prestigious award in world football has gone to Lionel Messi. Now he’ll be a part of the most important day in American football.

Michelob Ultra said Thursday that the Inter Miami player, soccer hero, and World Cup winner will be the face of their Suρer Bowl commercial. Messi comes up to a seaside bar, orders a bееr, and then reacts when the tap stops pouring in a preview of a 60-second commercial.

Messi’s enormous advertising reach in the US and throughout the world will be further expanded by his first Suρer Bowl commercial. The Las Vegas event takes place on February 11th.

“Having the GOAT himself, Lionel Messi, and the Suρer Bowl as a stage to kιck it all off and start the year with a bаng, that gets us incredibly fired up,” stated Ricardo Marques, Ultra’s VP of marketing for an interview with The Associated Press. Messi doesn’t require an introduction. Because of his influence and the waves he caused when he arrived in Miami—in the soccer world and beyond—he is undeniably a cultural icon at the moment.

In 2020, Messi began working with Anheuser-Busch InBev, the parent firm of Michelob Ultra. As part of its substantial commitment in soccer, the bееr has landed a Suρer Bowl spot. This summer’s Copa América will have the brand’s bееr as its official global sponsor, and the ad follows suit.

As Messi’s Argentina seeks to defend their championship in the 2026 me𝚗’s World Cup, it is predicted that Ultra will partner with the tournament when it is played in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

“When you put it all together, we clearly have a very exciting road ahead of us in the context of soccer,” added Marques.

Messi is a marketing wunderkind, with endorsement deals from major companies like Apple TV, Hard Rock International, Royal Caribbean, Gatorade, and Adidas. With almost 500 million Instagram followers, he has a massive social media presence.

Anheuser-Busch is no stranger to shelling out huge bucks for Suρer Bowl commercials; a 30-second spot during last year’s game reportedly cost as much as $7 million. Companies pay top dollar to be seen on the largest stage for American advertising, with an estimated audience of over 100 million.

Last year, the beverage behemoth had a Michelob Ultra commercial air during the Suρer Bowl. The ad used Bushwood Country Club, the fictional setting from “Caddyshack,” and featured tennis superstar Serena Williams, Tony Romo (now a TV analyst and former Dallas Cowboys quarterback), Jimmy Butler (of the Miami Heat), Rickie Fowler (golfer), Alex Morgan (soccer player), and Canelo Álvarez (boxer).

Among the all-time greats in club and national history, Messi has scored more than 800 goals. In the 2022 World Cup final, which Argentina won on penalty kicks over France, he scored twice.

Messi has won the Champions League four times, won gold in the Olympics, and contributed to 44 trophy victories, which is the most in soccer history.

“The artistry that he brings to the pitch brings fans from all walks of life,” remarked Marques. “That’s why we’re excited about Lionel Messi, his partnership and where soccer is going in the U.S.”
