Reportedly dissatisfied with his situation at the club, Benzema has been linked with a possible departure.

But his present bosses were fuming since they had him back on the job by January 2. They had been trying to get in touch with him for ten days, according to a person close to the club who spoke to France 24.

Benzema has been the target of criticism from Real Madrid supporters despite his impressive goal-scoring (12 goals in 20 games) since leaving the club last summer.

Even though they won the title last year, Al-Ittihad are currently 18 games behind the league leaders, 25 points down.

A member of Benzema’s fan base reportedly dubbed him “Ben-Hazima,” which means “the son of defeat” in Arabic, according to the French news outlet L’Equipe.

When Benzema returns to the lineup for Al-Ittihad on February 4, it will be in the quarterfinals of the King’s Cup.

Meanwhile, Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting has been linked to Manchester United, but the club is not expected to add a striker until the January transfer window.

At Thursday’s Wolves match at Molineux Stadium, the Red Devils will be back in action.

Marcus Rashford is set to make an appearance after taking responsibility for skipping Friday’s training session. He had been out partying until 3 in the morning with friends, and the club was led to believe he had been out on Wednesday night instead.
