Following defender Lisandro Martinez’s limping exit in West Ham’s victory, Erik ten Hag gives an update on Martinez’s injury

Erik ten Hag gave an update on the ιnjury situation following defender Lisandro Martinez’s limping exit in the middle of the second half against West Ham.

United defeated West Ham 3-0 at Old Trafford on Sunday, their most dominant home league triumph this season, thanks to goals from Rasmus Hojlund and Alejandro Garnacho.

Garnacho scored twice before Hojlund, who was celebrating his 21st birthday, scored his fourth goal in as many games in the 23rd minute.

It was United’s second three-game winning streak of the season and their first since October.

Nevertheless, the victory wasn’t without its price, as Martinez seemed to injure his knee in a collision with Vladimir Coufal—this being just the fourth game since his recovery from a foot ιnjury.

The Argentine international was eventually substituted despite his best efforts to continue.

According to Ten Hag, Martinez’s ιnjury looked “bad” for both the squad and the individual.

I think it’s terrible,” he told the BBC. Just give it a few more days for the correct diagnostic, and then we’ll know for sure. We can only hope that it’s not too terrible.

“He worked so hard to return and now after two games it looks like he has to sit some games out again.”

Yet, when asked about the overall performance, Ten Hag stated: “I said earlier, when you don’t build on the prior triumph then it is nothing. The guys were up to the task when we had that issue before.I am satisfied with our performance. We posed a dаnger throughout the match. We are able to score goals when we support our front line. The players have the ability to score goals with ease and directness.

Manchester United has great potential, thus the future seems bright. My opinion is that the photo below sums it all up: they’re all in it together, and they want to play football in an exciting and entertaining way. I am confident that we will reach great heights if we continue with this procedure.

We are putting together a squad, therefore we’ve signed some young players and are giving them chances to shine. We must acknowledge that this is a process with its share of challenges. We rely on our more seasoned players to lend a hand, and those players will in turn boost the performance of our younger players.
