Alejandro Garnacho, a star for Manchester United, has been called up to the Argentine national squad for two games that will take place in the US this month.
Despite his team’s difficulties, the 19-year-old has had a great season because he has established himself as a consistent starter in Ten Hag’s starting eleven.
This year, the youthful player has already made 35 appearances and scored seven goals across all competitions.
Garnacho has played for Argentina three times overall, making his debut in a friendly match against Australia in the summer of last year.
In September, the winger made his World Cup qualifying debut for the reigning champions, playing off the bench in a 3-0 victory over Bolivia.
The academy product, though, was left out of La Albiceleste’s lineup for the pivotal matches against Brazil and Uruguay in November.
He will get another opportunity to prove himself against Costa Rica and El Salvador at the end of the month during the next international break, according to ESPN.
“With the Copa América and the Paris Olympics in mind, Lionel Messi will captain an Argentina team that includes four players under the age of 20 in two friendlies in the United States in March.”
If he is chosen for both squads, the summer calendar for the United player might be quite demanding. The Copa America football tournament begins on June 20 in the United States and the Olympic football tournament in Paris on July 24.
Garnacho is one of four under-20 players in the team, along with Valentín Carboni of Monza and Facundo Buonanotte and Valentín Barco of Brighton.
Despite being born in Madrid, the former Atletico Madrid player is qualified to play for South America because his mother was born there.
Garnacho previously stated, “I didn’t hesitate at all because I feel Argentine, because I am Argentine,” in reference to his choice to play for the three-time World Cup winners. They took a chance on me, and I made it plain that this is a sizable national team. I already know I want to play with Argentina, so I don’t need to play three games or worry about this tour.
There have been times when this choice has not been properly received in his home nation. This was evident when the young person was made fun of by the Spanish press for supposedly assuming a “fake” Argentine accent during an interview where he was explaining his choice to represent Argentina.
