Several prominent MLB players, including Joey Votto, are still unsigned a few weeks into spring training.
He has also taken absurd measures to express how much he misses playing football.
Tuesday night, the 2010 NL MVP remade a Keanu Reeves meme and shared it on X, the former name of Twitter.
Votto appears forlorn in the picture as he eats a sandwich while perched on a seat. By resting a baseball bat against the bench, the first baseman gave the meme recreation a uniquely personal touch.
The post’s caption was only “missing ball.”

The photo is a nod to a shot of Reeves from 2010 that went viral and became known as the “Sad Keanu” meme.
The star of “John Wick” disclosed the history of the widely shared picture in December 2021 while making an appearance on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert”.
“Dude, I’m just having a sandwich! I had a thought! Reeves remarked, “I had some stuff going on.”
“I felt peckish,” he said.
Baseball fans felt sorry for the six-time All-Star after watching “Sad Joey,” and they urged teams to sign him.
Votto, forty, has been a member of the Cincinnati Reds for his whole 17-year career. He hit.202/.314/.433 in 65 games the previous season, with 14 home runs and 38 RBIs.
After having shoulder surgery, Votto missed the first several months of the 2023 campaign to recuperate.
