Soccer fans all around the world like Cristiano Ronaldo’s famous “siu” celebration. Novak Djokovic even imitated the Portuguese star during a kickaround in Indian Wells.
The Serbian player, who last won the BNP Paribas Open in 2016, is in California to compaete in the tournament.
Before starting his competition, he did, however, play a friendly game of soccer on Friday. A video of him scoring past fellow tennis player Stefanos Tsitsipas was uploaded to X on Friday.
Djokovic channeled his inner Ronaldo and wheeled away in jubilation after passing the ball around Tsitsipas’ leg and into the net.
The world No. 1 actually seemed to be copying the famous Didier Drogba of Chelsea by pulsing his arms at his sides and then performing the “siu.”
On Wednesday, Djokovic was spotted playing soccer once more and repeated Ronaldo’s celebration upon scoring.
Tsitsipas described the Friday’s small-sided encounter to the Tennis Channel, saying, “It was a lot of fun.” “I got a little lost in the game.”
Major sportsmen have imitated Ronaldo previously; Bucks player and Nashville SC minority owner Giannis Antetokounmpo performed the “siu” prior to the MLS team’s League Cup Final matchup with Inter Miami last summer.
Since he was a Real Madrid player in 2013, Ronaldo has been performing the celebration.Since then, he has carried it with him to Al-Nassr, a Saudi Arabian club, Juventus, and Manchester United.
With 22 goals in the league this season, he has much to be happy about.
On Saturday, Djokovic will take on the unseeded Australian Aleksandar Vukic to open the competition.
On Friday, Tsitsipas defeated Frenchman Lucas Pouille in his first-ever match, winning 6-3, 6-2.
