Ivanovic, the 2008 Roland Garros champion, attended with her husband, retired soccer player Bastian Schweinsteiger, as guests of Rolex. They were also photographed on the red carpet at the renowned Vanity Fair magazine Oscars party. Meanwhile, Williams was also captured on the red carpet of the same event alongside celebrities such as Kris and Kendall Jenner.

In an interview with German broadcaster ProSieben prior to the show, the former FC Bayern Munich midfielder joked about being the accompanying spouse, stating, “My wife is here today. She has to work, so to speak, and I am the accompaniment that has fit quite well.” He also expressed his support for fellow German Sandra Hüller in the “Best Actress” category, saying he was “crossing his fingers” for her (although she ultimately lost out to Emma Stone).
