In this afternoon’s game against the Seattle Mariners, TJ Friedl hurt himself in the top of the second inning. The outfielder for the Cincinnati Reds dove for a ball off Ryan Bliss’s bat, perhaps rolling up on his wrist in the process. Bliss would score an RBI double as a consequence of the play.

Friedl lay down for a while. Following the play, the trainer approached the Reds centerfielder to see how he was doing. Following a brief exchange of words, the player left the field and ended the game. Ivan Johnson, a minor league outfielder, took over for Cincinnati in center field.

Until after the game, when the media can speak with manager David Bell, it’s unlikely that any details regarding the severity of the injury will be released. As additional information becomes available, we will update this.

According to Reds.com’s Mark Sheldon, TJ Friedl has a sprained wrist.
