The singer of “Umbrella” welcomed her first son, RZA, who is now 19 months old, in May 2022 with her partner, ASAP Rocky. During her performance at the Super Bowl LVII halftime show, Rihanna announced that she was expecting her second child with the rapper. The couple welcomed their son, Riot, who is now 4 months old, in August.

“They’re incredible,” she remarked. “They’re growing bigger and faster than I anticipated, so by the time I order something and it arrives, they’ve outgrown it. I’m like, ‘Did I get everything wrong, or are the labels lying to us?'”

As she navigates parenthood with her two sons, the Grammy winner recently discussed her experiences and the expectations she had about her family’s dynamics.

“You never really have a clear picture,” she shared with Access Hollywood on Monday, December 18. “You simply hope for the opportunity to have children someday, to raise them in love, and to break generational patterns, paving the way for new experiences and better upbringing for our kids. It’s all happening now, and it’s surreal.”

Rihanna did have one particular physical trait in mind that she imagined her future children might inherit: “the forehead.” She noted that her eldest son inherited this feature, but her son Riot did not.

“I was like, ‘Wait, are you sure this is my child?'” Rihanna jokingly remarked. “You can’t lose this unique trait!”

Another source revealed that the pair is ecstatic to be fulfilling their aspirations together. Recently, Rocky expressed his joy in building a family with Rihanna, describing it as one of their most significant achievements.

“I believe we excel at working together to create children,” he shared in an Instagram interview with Complex magazine in November. “I think that’s our greatest accomplishment so far! There’s nothing better than RZA and Riot out there. We even had a third designer, a designer named God, who shaped everything. And we were blessed with these beautiful angels.”
