Rihanna and her boyfriend ASAP Rocky opted to personally care for their child without hiring a nanny, which initially brought significant stress and pressure to the singer.
During an interview with British Vogue, Rihanna opened up about her experience with motherhood. Specifically, the singer surprised many by revealing that she and ASAP Rocky had made the decision to personally care for their child and forgo hiring a nanny when they first brought their baby home from the hospital.
“When we arrived home, there was no one there. It was just the two of us and the baby,” Rihanna reminisced about their initial moments at home. “I couldn’t believe that I went from being one person to suddenly being two. I went to the hospital with my boyfriend, and when we left, we were a family of three. It was surreal.”
Expanding on her motherhood journey, the Umbrella singer affirmed that while it remains a wonderful experience, it has also been quite overwhelming. “The first few days were really tough. I couldn’t sleep at all, even though I desperately wanted to,” Rihanna shared. “Even amidst my non-stop work schedule, I still felt overwhelmed. I couldn’t shake off the thought: How could the hospital entrust us with this baby? How were we capable of embracing this new life? There were no doctors or nurses around, just us heading back home.”
Currently, the Barbadian singer has navigated through the initial challenges and has grown to cherish being a mother. This newfound love for motherhood has inspired her and her boyfriend to consider expanding their family. Rihanna is currently pregnant with her second child, expected to arrive this summer.
