During Coachella’s second weekend, Labrinth had a big surprise in store when he invited Zendaya to perform on Saturday, April 22.
Together with the British producer, the Emmy-winning artist made history by performing two tracks from the HBO film Euphoria’s soundtrack: “All for Us” and “I’m Tired.”
After the surprise, Zendaya posted a thank-you note and some behind-the-scenes photos from the backstage area on her Instagram Stories. She wrote, “I wish everyone could comprehend how loud it was last night.” “I can assure you that this is precisely what I heard; every single one of you was captured on my microphone.” I appreciate you joining in; that was the only way I could understand what I was singing, haha. Twitter users were giddy with excitement as they retweeted fan-captured video of Zendaya’s arrival, commenting, “Look at the crowd’s reaction when they heard Zendaya lmaooo—people were jumping and panicking to unlock their phones.”
Another fan account tweeted, “Zendaya was the highlight of Coachella,” with a video of the Disney Channel alum singing “All for Us” before Labrinth’s mesmerizing beat dropped and the audience went completely crazy.
The lead track from The Greatest Showman alum’s 2013 self-titled album, “Replay,” was requested to be added to the setlist by a number of other Twitter fans. “ZENDAYA, IT’S NOT TOO LATE, YOU CAN STILL DO REPLAY AT COACHELLA,” a fan captioned the music video for the song in all caps on Twitter.
Notably, Zendaya’s surprise appearance at Coachella was her first musical performance in front of an audience in at least seven years. She has been busy establishing her reputation in television and film, playing characters like Chani in Dune and its upcoming sequel, the voice of Lola Bunny in Space Jam: A New Legacy, and MJ Watson in the most recent Spider-Man trilogy.
