The former tennis superstar enjoys volunteering at the school attended by her eldest daughter, Olympia.
While Serena Williams has achieved tremendous success in tennis, including winning seven Wimbledon titles, she acknowledges that there are aspects of life she values more than the sport that brought her fame. One such aspect is volunteering at the school her eldest daughter, Olympia, attends.
“I can’t say that a Wiмbledon trophy holds a candle to volυnteering at мy kid’s school,” the 42-year-old retired sυperstar told Byrdie in a digital cover story pυblished Wednesday.
In the featured article, Williams discussed motherhood and her relationship with Olympia, who is 6 years old. She also has another daughter, Adira, born last August. “Motherhood has given me a new perspective on beauty through Olympia’s eyes,” Williams shared. “We often explore makeup together, and I consider how these moments will shape both of our beauty journeys.”
The former tennis professional, now leading her own makeup brand, WYN Beauty, expressed to Byrdie her hope that her career serves as inspiration for her daughters to pursue their own professional endeavors in the future.
“I want my daughters to see my career as a lesson in staying true to themselves, which is ultimately the most important,” she expressed. “You don’t have to be the best; just strive to do your best.”
“I also hope my daughters recognize the variety of passions I pursue — from tennis to beauty — and understand that they can lead dynamic careers and lives embracing their diverse interests,” she added.
Last month, Williams posted a heartwarming picture of Olympia holding Adira, captioned with, “Big sister hard at work with baby sis.” Alexis Ohanian, Williams’ husband, left a touching comment on the post, saying, “Name a more iconic duo. I’ll wait.”
