Rihanna hopes her sons will fully embrace their individuality as they mature, advocating for unconditional acceptance and love for who they are

Rihanna desires for her sons to embrace their true selves as they grow up. In a conversation with Vogue China for their April issue, the 36-year-old singer emphasized the importance of individuality both in her artistic endeavors and in her approach to parenting. Rihanna shares two sons, RZA (22 months) and Riot (7 months), with her partner A$AP Rocky, 35.

She expressed admiration for children’s innate authenticity and sincerity upon entering the world, devoid of societal norms or expectations. Rihanna aims to support her sons in navigating their unique identities, encouraging them to embrace their individuality fully and without reservation. She believes in fostering an environment where her children feel empowered to be whoever they want to be, appreciating their distinctiveness as something beautiful and extraordinary. Ultimately, Rihanna affirms her unconditional love for her sons just the way they are.

Rihanna has shared in the past that she likes to dress her sons in pink and floral patterns, opening up more about her choices in an interview with British Vogue last year.

“One of my favorite outfits he has is a miniature version of one of Rocky’s,” Rihanna told the outlet of a tartan kilt she had commissioned for her son RZA.

“I like to dress him in things that don’t look like baby clothes. I like to push it. I put him in floral stuff. I put him in hot pink. I love that. I think that fluidity in fashion is best. I always shop in the men’s department, you know.”

In an interview with Page Six in November, Rihanna shared that her connection with Rocky had gotten deeper since the couple welcomed their two kids together.

“I love him differently as a dad. This is major, major…it’s a turn on,” she told the outlet. “It’s just like, wow. What a leader, what a great, patient loving…and my kids are obsessed with him.”
