It has become a hobby for America’s top stars to watch Lionel Messi play for Inter Miami. While LeBron James, Serena Williams, and Kim Kardashian watched the Argentine’s Miami debut in awe, Novak Djokovic was in attendance to watch Messi and the Herons take on the LA Galaxy in Tinsel Town. If the NBA and tennis royalty have met with soccer’s central figure, can NFL royalty be far behind? Seems not. Mark your calendars, fans. You might soon see the reigning Super Bowl champion Patrick Mahomes share a warm hug with the reigning FIFA World Cup champion!
Mahomes has been on the courtside for Kansas City’s NWSL team KC Current’s games. The Chiefs’ QB has the same affinity towards KC’s MLS franchise- Sporting KC. Notably, the Kansas City side next plays Inter Miami in the MLS.
Patrick Mahomes seems excited to welcome Lionel Messi
Patrick Mahomes’ Chiefs’ home stadium- the Arrowhead Stadium hosts Inter Miami in this Saturday’s MLS clash. Notably, Sporting KC is returning to the Arrowhead Stadium after a 28-year hiatus. KC’s Instagram handle has posted a picture of the big screen at the stadium announcing their clash with Lionel Messi and Co. on Saturday. “Saturday, we make our return to @GEHAField – 28 years later. Be a part of making history,” Sporting KC captioned the post. Mahomes- a minority owner of the KC-based MLS side took to Instagram stories and shared Sporting KC’s post. The Super Bowl champ also added three fire emojis to his story.
This means it is highly likely that the 3x Super Bowl champion will show up for the KC-Miami tie. Besides, Mahomes’ business interest in Sporting and his affiliation with the Arrowhead Stadium strengthen the possibility of him meeting with Messi. Leo Messi, on the other hand, has recovered from a hamstring injury he sustained last month. He came off the bench in Miami’s recent MLS tie against Colorado and is hence expected to feature against the Mahomes-co-owned MLS team. While this might be the first time the two sporting icons will meet, the KC QB has once been quite vocal about his admiration for the Miami skipper.
