Patrick Mahomes Prioritizes Family, Open to Retirement from NFL

Three-time Super Bowl Champion and Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes doesn’t plan on ending his NFL career anytime soon but revealed that he’d give it up for his family.

“I’ve looked, if I played until Tom (Brady)’s age, my daughter would be 19, 20 years old. I would love to play that long,” he told TIME. “At the same time, I want to be there for my daughter. If I can do that, I’ll continue to play. But if I feel like it’s taking away from my family time, that’s when I’ll know it’s time to go.”

Per TODAY, “Mahomes shares 3-year-old daughter Sterling Skye Mahomes and 1-year-old son Patrick ‘Bronze’ Lavon Mahomes III with wife Brittany Mahomes, whom he has been married to since 2022.”

Mahomes would love to play until his mid-forties like legendary quarterback Tom Brady, but he knows that might not be the case for him.

“Tom’s skewed people’s brains on how hard that is to do because of how well he took care of his body,” Mahomes said. “So I’m about to make sure that I get rid of this dad bod if I want to play to 45.”

“At the end of my time, I just want to say that I didn’t leave anything out there,” he continued. “My family and football are the first things I want to be great at. If I can go out there and say that I gave everything I had on the football field, expectations are what they are and whatever is going to happen is going to happen. And I can be satisfied with that.”

Mahomes often shares his love for his children on his Instagram account.

In a post from Feb. 20, he wrote, “Happy 3rd birthday Sterling Skye! You are my 🩵! Stop growing up so fast!!”

In another post celebrating his daughter’s birthday, he captioned, “We celebrated our Sterling Skye today!✨ I can’t even believe we will have a 3 year old in just a few days! Time flies when you’re having fun! We love you baby girl🥹🤍.”

Movieguide® previously reported on Mahomes:

Quarterback Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs won their third Super Bowl in just five years.

Per The Christian Post, “The Chiefs secured their third Super Bowl victory in five seasons by coming back from 10 points down to secure a 25-22 victory against the San Francisco 49ers, the same franchise they beat in Super Bowl LIV in 2020. The Chiefs are the first team to win back-to-back Super Bowls in the last 20 years since the New England Patriots did it in 2004 and 2005.”

Immediately after the win, Mahomes talked about what this Super Bowl win meant to him.

“It means a ton. Just the adversity we dealt with this year and to come through. The guys never faltered,” the quarterback said. “I give God the glory. He challenged us to make us better. I am proud of my guys. They did awesome. Legendary.”
