Rihanna has provided another update on her highly anticipated upcoming album, expressing excitement about the quality of the songs she’s been working on. During a red carpet interview with Entertainment Tonight at the launch of her new Fenty x Puma Creeper Phatty Earth Tone sneaker on Wednesday, the Grammy-winning singer revealed her enthusiasm, stating that the tracks are “so good.”
Rihanna, whose last studio album was 2016’s Anti, hinted at her confidence in the new material, mentioning that she already has songs she believes could become hits. Additionally, she shared that her partner, rapper A$AP Rocky, is also impressed with the tracks and that they’re both figuring out how to best utilize them.
When questioned about the potential release date of her next album, Rihanna humorously admitted that even she is unsure, jokingly saying, “I wanna know, too.” These latest remarks from the Fenty Beauty founder may not provide much reassurance to her eager fans awaiting new music.
They come after a recent conversation with Interview magazine earlier in the month, where Rihanna discussed having “a lot of visual ideas” for her upcoming album. Reflecting on her creative process, she mentioned that typically, music inspires her visual concepts, but this time, it seems the visuals are influencing the music. While she hasn’t yet crafted the songs to accompany these ideas, she speculated that perhaps this reversal in her creative process could be the key this time around.
In another segment of the interview with ET, Rihanna discussed her approach to styling her and A$AP Rocky’s two sons, RZA, aged 23 months, and Riot, aged 7 months. She admitted to drawing inspiration from Rocky’s fashion sense when dressing the boys, acknowledging the unique challenge of styling sons as opposed to daughters.
Rihanna humorously shared that while many women often envision dressing girls, she found herself at a loss with sons until she realized she could simply mimic Rocky’s style, referring to it as her “biggest hack.”
