Tom Holland was recently spotted with his ladylove Zendaya in London. The Spiderman: No Way Home actor went on a lunch date with her on May 12, claimed reports. The romantic outing comes a day after his much-anticipated preview of Romeo and Juliet stage play at West End was cancelled. Scheduled to take place at the Duke of York’s Theatre, the production was axed due to “technical” delays. Now, the limited 12-week play is slated to commence “on Monday, May 13.” Ahead of slipping into the shoes of the tragic William Shakespeare character, Tom Holland spent Sunday afternoon with his real-life Juliet aka Zendaya.
In the pictures doing the rounds on the internet, Tom Holland was seen sporting a clean-cut short hairstyle. He chopped off his iconic shaggy curls, presumably to portray Romeo. His tresses were buzzed from the sides with little length kept on the top. The actor donned a brown polo T-shirt and black trousers. A cross bag was strapped diagonally across his shoulders.
Zendaya was also decked up casually for the outing. The Dune actress put on an oversized pale blue shirt and teamed it up with loose-fitted charcoal pants. She carried a giant grey handbag. A top-tied hair bun, minimal accessories, and makeup rounded off her lunch date OOTD. Tom Holland and Zendaya were photographed walking hand-in-hand towards the eatery.
According to a report by Daily Mail, over 60,000 fans bought tickets in February to watch Tom Holland breathe life into Romeo’s character. However, just a day before the performance they were informed that the stage production, “cannot go ahead as planned due to the technical aspects of the production needing further preparation”, reported Deadline. The play’s press representative Jo Allan PR has confirmed that besides the May 11 glitch, “no other previews are being canceled.”
Tom Holland was last seen arriving at the Duke of York’s Theatre on May 10 for last-minute rehearsals, reported Daily Mail. He departed the premises by covering his face from the paparazzi. Directed by Jamie Lloyd, the Romeo and Juliet play also features actress Francesca Amewudah-Rivers in the titular female character. The official opening night will take place on May 23.
Meanwhile, Zendaya is basking in the success of her recently released film Challengers. Helmed by Luca Guadagnino, the sports drama also stars Mike Faist and Josh O’Connor in important roles.
