PASS FIRE  TO NEXT GENERATION: Reds’ All-Star Elly De La Cruz hosts baseball camp Friday for young players

Only days before he addresses the Cincinnati Reds at the Significant Association Baseball Top pick Game in Texas, shortstop Elly De La Cruz spent Friday training the game to kids.

De La Cruz facilitated his first youth baseball camp in quite a while region on Friday at Sycamore Secondary School.

The sold-out camp highlighted 440 children in grades 1-8 who got to gain baseball basics from the 22-year-old Top pick.

This colder time of year, De La Cruz discreetly trained up Youth baseball kids in his nation of origin of the Dominican Republic.

On Friday morning, he took that guidance to the Sovereign City, tossing batting practice to the youthful players and instructing them on handling and baserunning in front of the Reds’ down against the Miami Marlins Friday night.

De La Cruz said he felt thankful that the children emerged and needed to learn.

“I feel thankful. I’m playing around with the children and after this, I need to get to the game,” De La Cruz said.

De La Cruz and beginning pitcher Tracker Greene will go to Arlington, Texas on Sunday for Top pick celebrations, with the two players named saves for Tuesday’s challenge.
