Following the club’s agreement to sell Gallagher to Atletico Madrid for £34 million, his time at Chelsea looks to be almost over.
The La Liga powerhouses are free to discuss personal terms with the England international, but he has so far showed a reluctance to leave his childhood club.
However, on Friday, rumors surfaced that the 24-year-old, who excelled under Mauricio Pochettino the previous season, was being forced out by the Blues.Due in large part to the Italian manager Maresca’s possession-based style of play, Gallagher was informed he would not be expected to play a major role under the new boss.
However, The Sun has since reported that the midfielder was “banished” from first-team training by Chelsea’s management after he turned down two contract offers from the organization.
The Blues would prefer to sell Gallagher now rather than risk losing him on a free agent when his current contract expires next summer if he decides not to continue in west London.
Speaking from Chelsea’s preseason tour of the United States, Maresca expressed confidence that a solution will be reached quickly, although he would not confirm or deny that Gallagher had been banned.
“At this time, there is no new information available on that,” the manager stated.
“All I can say is that he communicated with the club in an attempt to find a resolution.” It’s nothing new, in my opinion.
Every summer, several football teams deal with player issues; eventually, a resolution is reached, and all parties are satisfied. I hope this circumstance allows for the same outcome.
Gallagher reportedly received a message from Atletico telling him to decide by the end of the weekend whether or not to sign with them.
