According to football transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui have finished their medicals at Manchester United’s Carrington training site.
Their agent Rafaela Pimenta is also in Manchester to conclude the deals, and the players are now poised to sign their contracts.
Both players are anticipated to be available for selection as soon as this weekend, when United open off their Premier League campaign against Fulham, according to Romano’s X account, who confirmed that the medicals are complete. Within 24 hours, all documentation will be approved, as MdL and Mazraoui will be prepared to play Fulham, Romano announced.
After intense pursuit, the Premier League team finally signed Mazraoui and de Ligt on Sunday, after Mazraoui had already agreed to terms with Bayern Munich. The Dutch international De Ligt could be a Manchester United player until 2030 according to a five-year deal that includes an extra season’s option.A five-year contract with an additional season’s option will also be extended to Moroccan right defender Mazraoui.
After having a hard time acquiring Jonathan Tah and Désiré Doué, Bayern Munich finds itself in a tough spot with the departure of both players. It is unclear what will happen to the €60 million sum that de Ligt and Mazraoui were paid together.
The BBC reports that United offered Bayern Munich £38.6 million for de Ligt plus £4.3 million in add-ons, and that Bayern Munich accepted, with United also planning to pay £12.9 million for Mazraoui. United are looking to shore up their center defense and right back positions in preparation for the upcoming season, and this transfer fits into that plan.
