Mike Trout and his four-year-old son Beckham often share their bonding moments on social media. On Thursday, the father-son duo set out to find his autographed baseball card from a store-bought pack; and to his surprise, the duo found it.

The video started with Trout breaking the pack of baseball cards and going through all of them to find his own, as per Beckham’s request.

“We gotta get you daddy,” Beckham said.

When he finally found his signed card, he went into celebratory mode with Beckham. The father and son high-fived each other.

“Oh my gosh, dude. Let’s go. Bro, we just pulled it. We just pulled the monster. Let’s go, baby. Let’s go. No way. Oh my gosh, dude,” Trout excitedly said.

Before tying the knot in December 2017, Trout and his wife, Jessica, had been dating since high school. Less than three years after their marriage, Jessica gave birth to Beckham. The family expanded to four when Trout and Jessica welcomed their second son, Jordy Michael, on June 30, 2024.

“Little brother is here! Beckham’s sidekick has arrived. You fill our hearts with so much joy, Jordy Michael! God is so good🙏🏻,” the parents wrote in their caption.

Mike Trout embraces fatherhood and credits his dad’s parenting approach

Trout has a strong connection with his father, Jeff, who played four seasons in the minor league after being selected by the Minnesota Twins in 1983. Though Jeff never completed his dream of playing in the majors, he made sure that his son, Mike, would not share the same fate.

Not only did Trout make his MLB debut with the LA Angels in July 2011, he went on to become one of the most formidable hitters in the major league—earning 11 All-Star selections, three AL MVP honors, and the Rookie of the Year award among other accolades.

“He just let me be me,” Trout said about his father in April via MLB Network. “He didn’t really push me to try to hit like him. He kind of just let me go, let me figure it out.”

Now that Trout himself is a father of two sons, he wants to use the same parenting approach that his father had for him.

“I look back and now that I’m pitching to my son, it’s the same thing: I’ve kind of just let him figure it out on his own. I think in the long run it’ll help him, because there will be situations where I’m not there to help him with that swing,” Trout added.

It remains to be seen if any of his sons will take the family’s baseball legacy forward.
