Ten Hag must surrender United’s £51 million star to Liverpool after he had 23 touches, 13 passes, and won 2 of 5 duels.

On Saturday, Brighton & Hove Albion defeated Manchester United 2-1 in the Premier League, which was a sad loss for United.

At the Amex Stadium, Brighton scored in stoppage time because Manchester United lacked a decisive final third.

Some players, such Diogo Dalot, Noussair Mazraoui, and Amad Diallo, played well, but others were not up to scratch.

Among the unconvincing was Marcus Rashford. With only thirteen completions, the 26-year-old hardly had an impact on the game.

The former Red Devils player only managed to win two of five bouts. He fumbled the ball seven times and was flagged for being offside twice.

Although he and Diallo had underwhelming first halves, Diallo got his act together after the break, netting an equalizer that was helped in by a massive deflection.

There was no improvement in Rashford’s performance following the break. Alejandro Garnacho came on for him in the 65th minute, as was expected.

In just 32 minutes, Rashford and Garnacho each had 23 touches. He was quite unlucky not to score after completing 11 passes.

His goal was disallowed by video assistant referee because Joshua Zirkzee, who was offside, made contact with the ball just before it went into the net.

We think that manager Erik ten Hag needs to make some smart choices. After another mediocre performance, he must bench Rashford.

Although Ten Hag should choose next weekend’s squad based on merit, the £51 million star does have a decent record against Liverpool, scoring seven goals in 18 matches.

After making amends in the second half, Amad is deserving of a starting position on the right wing.

Instead of Rashford, Garnacho should start on the left wing of the attack. In the season’s first three games, the Argentine has been a lively substitute.

He not only scored in the Community Shield, but he also set up Zirkzee for the game-winning goal against Fulham. At Brighton, Garnacho came dangerously close to scoring.

Zirkzee will spearhead the assault against Arne Slot’s squad, while Bruno Fernandes will likely start at number 10 again now that Mason Mount is out with an injury.
