Chelsea legend reacts to £32 million striker Nicolas Jackson’s request that he ‘shut up and play ball’

After scoring twice in Chelsea’s 6-2 thrashing of Premier League opponents Wolves, Jackson went after Obi Mikel.

After Chelsea’s season opener against Manchester City, Obi Mikel—who won the Premier League, Champions League, and FA Cup while playing for Stamford Bridge—criticed Jackson.

After seeing his previous team lose to the Premier League winners, Obi Mikel spoke on beIN SPORTS and stated, “We’ve played OK, we haven’t played perfect, but we’ve played OK.”

We haven’t capitalized on the opportunities we’ve created. And that’s only one way Jackson ends things.

John Obi Mikel to Nicolas Jackson: "If he scores every week and tells me to shut up, I’ll take that!"

You can see that he managed to dribble by at least one guy and shoot the ball with such precision, despite being offside!

We just do not have the kind of striker that can put the ball in the back of the net.

I realize that I criticize him a lot, and that at times it comes out as rude. He is not disrespected by me.

In my opinion, Chelsea Football Club is in desperate need of a top-tier striker. Similar to Haland, 91 goals scored by City is extremely incredible.

After joining Chelsea from La Liga club Villarreal for £32 million, Jackson made 44 appearances and scored 17 goals.Angry at Obi Mikel’s remarks, the Senegalese forward vented his frustrations on social media following Wolves’ victory.

“Tip your head,” Jackson told Obi Mikel. “Stay silent; serving Africa is a suicide mission.”

Now that Jackson has vented, Obi Mikel has addressed the situation by saying he supports his countryman’s success at Stamford Bridge but will never sugarcoat his assessment of a player.I think he’s great on the football field. He has my admiration. The 37-year-old football player mentioned it on the podcast The Obi One.

I have never once implied that he is an awful player. His finishing talents are still lacking, as I mentioned before.

All I’ve done is suggest that the football club bring in a more seasoned striker to mentor the youngster and help him develop into a better player.Every week, we can observe the change he makes. I hope my Ivorian brother does as well in the Premier League as he has predicted and joins Chelsea, a major club that has produced one of the best attackers of all time in Didier Drogba.

To a lesser extent, I hope he succeeds for the club. I will give him kudos if he does a good job. I will certainly point out his shortcomings and suggest ways he might improve if I feel the need to do so.

As long as he scores weekly and instructs me to be quiet, I’ll be satisfied. Are you understanding me?

On Thursday, in the Europa Conference League, Chelsea will take on Servette, and Jackson will be hoping to keep his goal scoring run going.
