The injury news for Reece James and Romeo Lavia is verified by Enzo Maresca, who will not be able to participate for Chelsea in the UEFA Conference League qualifying play-off second leg against Servette.
James and Lavia, who were both injured last year, took a tumble and were unable to participate in Sunday’s 6-2 Premier League thrashing of Wolves at Molineux.
Telling the Chelsea club website, “There are no fresh concerns” was what Maresca had to say.Just for precautionary reasons and not because of any issues, Pedro Neto and Malo Gusto will not be part of the squad for tomorrow. Romeo Lavia and Reece James are still out as well.
It would be great if Romeo and Reece could return after the international break.
Christopher Nkunku and Noni Madueke scored for Chelsea as they defeated Servette 2-0 in the first leg played at Stamford Bridge.
Maresca stressed again how important his team’s motivation is for their chances of making it to the league round.
“I am positive it will be a challenging game,” he continued.
After a couple of consecutive victories, I don’t see complacency as a problem; it’s just that. That game is going to be challenging, so we better be prepared.
We must be completely prepared and inspired, without a doubt. Our goal for tomorrow is to do well so that we can advance to the next group. It will be a tough game, though.
When you win a game like this at home, you might believe the game is almost over, but that’s not the case. Certainly not in this setting and on this particular pitch. Therefore, we must be completely prepared.
