The Gunners nearly ended their pursuit of a new attacker on a dramatic transfer deadline day, when Jadon Sancho was also nearly sold to Chelsea, as they pounced to acquire Sterling from their London rivals.
The contract, which was finalized in the early hours of Saturday morning, does not include an obligation to buy.
It is an incredible sensation. I am incredibly thrilled. With a thrill, Sterling exclaimed.
It’s one that I was hoping for, even though we left it a little late. Taking everything into consideration, I just think, “This is a perfect fit for me,” and I’m pleased that we were able to finalize it.You can see the guys’ growth and the genuine unity from Mikel’s time here, I told [sporting director] Edu.
“I want to be a part of the togetherness,” they say, “and you can see the hunger.”After hearing that Enzo Maresca sees no future for Sterling at Chelsea, the club has been trying to locate a new club for him to play for.
Chelsea announced in a statement that winger Raheem Sterling had joined Arsenal on loan for the upcoming season.
In 81 games since joining the Blues in the summer of 2022, Raheem has scored nineteen goals for Manchester City.
The rest of the season will find him playing for the Emirates. Best of luck, Raheem.
On Thursday, Mail Sport reported that Arsenal had been approached about signing Sterling and Kingsley Coman, both players from Bayern Munich.
On Friday afternoon, Arsenal took serious action to confirm their interest in Sterling, and they subsequently completed the deal’s legalities.
Many saw Sterling’s £325,000 weekly salary as the main obstacle to his exit during the transfer season. His wage will be split evenly between the two clubs throughout the loan, though.
After a fruitful partnership with Mikel Arteta at Manchester City, the 29-year-old will be working with Arteta again as manager of the Gunners.
