Greenwood has kept up his remarkable scoring form since arriving to Marseille. Before facing Toulouse in the third round, the star, who was born in 2001, scored three goals in Ligue 1.

Greenwood delivered a superb performance against Toulouse, satisfying Marseille supporters. In the 16th and 17th minutes of the game, he put the home team up 2-0 with two goals in the span of one minute.

 

Greenwood made a pinpoint shot from a tight angle for the first goal. The second goal, however, was a piece of cake for the ex-MU standout, who “threaded the needle” past the rival goalkeeper with a single touch.

The final score in this match was 3-1 in favor of Marseille over Toulouse. With 7 points after 3 matches, they briefly ascended to the top of Ligue 1 thanks to that result. It may have been quite some time since Marseille felt superior against PSG, the monster in the league.

Greenwood has scored five goals in just three games for Marseille in Ligue 1 so far this season. Greenwood and Balotelli (in 2016) were the only players in tournament history to score five goals in their first three Ligue 1 matches, according to ESPN.

Since Greenwood had previously been boycotted in England, he did not receive any backing in Marseille. Despite the dismissal of the assault charge against this player’s girlfriend, Greenwood was still heavily criticized by many groups.
