Even though Marcus Rashford is a world-class talent, he might have to leave Old Trafford to reach his full potential.

Nicky Butt, a legend at Manchester United who won 15 titles in 387 games for the club from 1992 to 2004, holds that view.

Even though Rashford has 131 goals in 306 games for United, he has only managed nine goals in his last fifty club appearances.Due to a decline in form, the 26-year-old was not selected to represent England at Euro 2024 and will not play in the forthcoming Nations League matches against Ireland and Finland.

From 2012 until 2021, Butt was an integral part of United’s youth development setup, where he spent much time assisting Marcus Rashford.On Monday, the 49-year-old former midfielder was asked by talkSPORT listeners what he felt about Rashford’s situation.

However, Butt responded, “I don’t know and it’s actually sad watching that,” because he had known Marcus since he was a youngster at Man United’s youth development program and had always seen him as a hopeful prospect.Even though a lot of people are definitely going to be calling him right now, I think he still has what it takes to be a top player on the planet.

“He’s just going to do it, he’s going to do it” has been a mantra for the past few years at Manchester United, but now it appears like he needs a fresh start.

Even though his mentality is a mystery, the man is a phenomenal footballer with boundless potential.

People constantly say he doesn’t care because of his body language, but I can tell you now that he does care; he’s a good guy, but he’s having trouble connecting for Manchester United.

Perhaps he could seek out a club where he can relax and take a deep breath, away from the constant scrutiny.

“He’s the reason why all the fans are rooting for him, but the team as a whole needs to step it up.”Up until June of 2028, Rashford will be under contract with United. He reportedly earns almost £300,000 every week.

Including the Community Shield match against Manchester City, he has started every one of United’s three Premier League games this season.

Rashford has not scored or assisted in any of those games, and United has only won once (a 1-0 win against Fulham).

United were defeated 3-0 at home by Liverpool on Sunday, although Rashford played the entire match. He had 32 touches of the ball but no shots.

Neither in the full 90 minutes against Fulham nor in his 64-minute cameo against Brighton did he manage to register a single shot.

During the Community Shield, Rashford had three chances to score but missed each one. City won the match.
