Since his 2009 hit “Gettin’ You Home,” Chris Young has consistently topped the charts, which likely means he’s accumulated enough wealth to treat himself to some enjoyable splurges from time to time.
During a recent appearance on Taste of Country Nights: On Demand, the “I’m Coming Over” artist talked about a recent purchase he made that he finds particularly exciting.
Holding up a single finger to the camera, Young — an avid Texas Rangers baseball fan — showed off a shiny Texas Rangers World Series ring on his ring finger.
It’s the size of a ping pong ball!
But when pressed for details, Young played coy.
“I got really cool friends,” he says. “So I won’t go too far into it, but there’s a couple buddies of mine — one that works in the Cowboys organization and one that works with the Rangers.”
“They were in Nashville, I took them out to dinner, and then they heard me say something about, ‘I dunno, if one day somebody ever gave up, like, a World Series ring, I would try and buy one just to have it,'” Young recalls, sharing more details than he’d intended.
The Texas Rangers mean a lot to the country singer, so this purchase makes sense. “I used to live in Arlington. The only two places I lived were Arlington, Texas, and Nashville,” he explains.
“I was at one of the World Series games with a friend of mine that’s a TikTok influencer, and I worked with the MLB, I was like, ‘I would buy one.'”
Young’s dinner buddies got to work on making it happen.
“They got on their phones and basically had a boat race with each other at dinner to see who could get approval faster,” he says.
